Gold is the most malleable of all precious metals. It will not rust, corrode or tarnish.

Because pure gold is extremely soft, pure gold must be alloyed with a mixture of zinc, nickel, copper or silver to help it withstand the stress of simple everyday wear. The indication of pure gold is "k" - which is a symbol for karatage. Expressed in 24ths, karatage is 100% gold when expressed as 24k.

The factors that determine the color of gold are 1. The type alloy that is included in it, and 2. the percentage of the included metal alloys.

Yellow Gold

All of the yellow gold jewelry available online at Moissanite Bridal comprised of 14k yellow gold. If you are interested in 18k gold (which contains more precious metal than 14k gold) please call one of our representatives at 1-866-345-8725.

18k gold is made of 75% gold,, and is alloyed with other metals to make it strong enough to withstand daily wear. Because 14k gold is composed of only 58.3% gold, and 41.7% other metals that give it strength, its gold color is not as significant as 18k gold.

White Gold

18k white gold is made up of 75% gold, and 14k gold is made of 58.3% gold. Most all white gold is plated with rhodium to protect it and give it a beautiful shine. Over time, rhodium plating may wear off. To restore the whiteness and luster of your white gold, simply contact your local jeweler to have it re-plated.

Pricing for gold is simply done by measuring the purity of the gold used (or karat weight), as well as the craftsmanship included in the piece.

Care of your gold

To ensure the beauty of your gold and prolong it's luster, it is highly recommended to keep it away from harsh household chemicals. Simple cleaning techniques using detergent-free soap, warm water, and a soft tooth brush will help to keep your gold pieces beautiful. Storing your gold seperately from other jewelry will lessen it's potental for scratching.
